How can I find the owner of a Car in the UK?
Answers:
I assume u mean u already knw the reg no. If so go to the police and tell them that some do-gooder left a note on ur car sayin that car hit u and drove off while u were parked. The old bill wont be bothered with it and will give u the persons addy.
Good luck!
i thought they had cars in the united kingdom huh guess i'm wrong
you will have to go through the dvla www.dvla.gov.uk
try the dvla website
DVLA. Swansea
You can't legally. The DVLA in Swansea have the information, but there's not a hope they'd tell you. Which is good, you wouldn't want any Tom, Dick or Harry getting your details from your numberlate so they can come round and sort your out after you inadvertently cut them up.
If you know any bent coppers, however.
You contact the DVLA in Swansea. But unless you own the car, or are a police officer, or a person of authority, or it was dumped on you, your right of access to the data isn't easy.
The chances are, you wont be given information.
No car can be sold on without the owner first notifying the DVLA that they've sold it, by tearing off the bottom change of owner strip, on the vehicle log. If it is, and it is in an accident, or worse, used in a crime, the previous owner is still legally responsible.
Having said all this. the DVLA are selling off driver/car details to businesses these days! And supermarkets are using them to issue parking fines on people who overstay their welcome. It's currently under investigation I believe.
You can get the information after filling in a form from the post office and paying a small fee. this was designed following the number of damage only accidents in car parks where the reg was taken but no other details. By getting this information, you can pursue a civil claim in the courts to recover the cost of damage.
Depends how much information you have on the car.do you know the VIN..License Plate? An approximate area of it's where about? If you do, you can always call up a police station out pretenting you are the owner and ask them to run the plates for any recent tickets..You can also try to find someone who has access to a sounddex and run the plate. ( if the care is registered, the info will be there. Or you can contact the makers of the car and ask the by giving them the VIN number on the car.Once again, it depends how much information you have on the car!
OBVIOUSLY EVERYONE HERE HASN"T FIGURED OUT THAT THIS GUY IS A CROOK RIGHT.
