How do you derestrict a yamaha dt125re 05 model properly & safely?
Answers:
If it is a 2 stroke model: Micron racing pipe and racing reedstock/ reeds. Re jet your main jet to the next size up (it just screws in) and fit an S&B (or K&N) air filter. Dont forget to upgrade the 2 stroke oil to high performance. Total mods should cost about £200 and you will be keeping up with most 350s and 400s.I did this on an RD125 and topped out at 110mph. (I did have a bigger rear sproket though)
Not worth de-restricting a 4 stroke as you will only get another 10mph top end and not much on the accelleration but the same theory applies, racing pipe and air filter - check with the supplier about main jet modifications.
Hope this helps.
Check for a restricter ring in the start of the exhaust by the head, check for a ring in the carb, also you may need a new CDI as they are another point of restriction.
Try this website www.ask.com will help for sure, good luck
leave it alone you're just asking for headaches
firstly if you are a learner then don't do it.
otherwise remove the restricting washer which will be in the exhaust system and then check that the mixture is set correctly with the restrictor removed
