Is there any way to find out a service history of a car?

A family member has inherited a car but no-one can find the service history for it.it has got lost with some other papers during the probate. Is there anyway of finding out this information?

Answers:
Not unless there was one particular spot your family member went and had it serviced. If you looking for a place like carfax.com, except for maintenance, forget it
misread the question thought it said CAT
No.unless the previous owner used one garage for everything or kept receipts.
Hi, If the car has been owned from new, and the supplying dealer used for servicing, they will have a record on their system
If you have the VIN number, which is found on the left hand side on the dashboard by the windshield, the site below may be able to help you. I've always put the services receipt in a plastic ziploc bag in the glove compartment for future use.
go to carfax.com and u can find out everything on the car. u will need the vin number
Check with the dealer of your car where it was being serviced.Good dealers keep records of vehicles serviced on their PC data base.
Google search for Car Fax it runs around 35.00 but gives you a complete history. Wrecks-ever stolen- all owners and anything else on that VIN number that has been reported
if the car is not to old you can go to the main dealer and request it.
