How do you make sure you stay within the maximum loading weight of your car when loading it up?

Answers:
CONSIDER THE WEIGHT OF EACH ITEM PLACED INTO YOU CAR, INCLUDING PASSENGERS AND YOURSELF. THEN ADD IT UP. MATCHING IT UP IN TURN WITH THE HANDBOOKS RECOMMENDATION.

ALSO TRY TO DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT EVENLY. JUST LIKE A CARGO VESSEL.
The only sure way is to weigh everything before you put it in.
In addition to answers already given consider the weight of the fuel and other fluids such as the oil and washer fluids. For example run with less petrol etc in order to carry more goods within your limit.

Also consider driving the car at a higher altitude therefore less gravity will be acting on the mass of the car and things placed within the car, therefore you could carry more and stay within the maximum loading weight (ps you would need to be very high to gain any real advantages!)
