Am i doing the right thing by buying a black cbr600f even though i haven't riden a bike for 12 years?
Answers:
i was the same hadnt been on a bike for a few years, just go out and make sure it is a nice quiet time of day take your own pace and get used to your bike, duck to water comes to mind, i have a black cbr cb jellymould and i love it watch out for the muppets in the cars, the old dodgy ladys in the little fiestas, and the idiots that blast the music in the little novas. happy rideing
who you trying to impress??
Treat it with respect mate. It will kill you if you don't.
ahhh mid life crisis time
Just keep it between the ditches
yeah you are buy my 2004 yzf r6
Go ahead! I want one myself and I've never driven one!!
what took you so long, you should have gotten one sooner.
We'll you bought it so go and ride it!!!
It all depends on whether or not your ultimate goal is death.
Yes you are. I did a similar thing but with a GSX1100F and didn't regret it one bit.
Just keep your bottle, concentrate real hard for the first couple of thousand miles, and you'll be fine. I used to do a Sunday Ride every week, rain or shine that went for about 40 miles on country A roads and the last 10 on a fast straight dual-cabbageway.
I then went to a Busa and survived that for 18 months and now have an old GPZ 500 for fun.
I hope like mine, it turns out to be one of the best purchases you have ever made!
happy riding.
How comfortable and skilled were you at riding 12 yrs ago? Did you only take the test back then and not ever really ride? If so you may want to take a refresher course.and start small (parking lots, low traffic areas, riding with someone more experienced with you to coach and watch out for you.
Be smart.be safe.have fun.I've only been riding a month myself, but went on a weekend ride of over 600 miles my second time out (other than the putting around parking lots and neighborhoods).rode 329 miles this past Sunday with a small group (6 bikes total) and it's all been good so far.sometimes a bit scary, but no mishaps or issues.
Congrats on your new purchase.enjoy!
Well, it's academic if anyone else thinks you're doing the right thing or not, since you've alrady purchased it.
I ride ('00 Honda VFR800), here's my two cents. 12 years is a bit of a stretch, and while the CBR600 isn't the fastest bike you could have bought (compared, for instance, to a litre bike, like a GSXR1000, Hayabusa or R1), it can surely get you into a bad knot pretty quickly.
I suggest you look into the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course in your local area. The link's below. I took it when I first started riding and it was priceless. A good friend of mine was also in the same situation as you - had ridden since teenager, but had been off for over 10 years. He took the course (at first, thought there wasn't anything he needed to know), and came away telling me, "They taught me things about riding I'd never known! I don't know how ANYONE rides safely without taking that course."
The streets are a pretty dangerous place nowadays, at least where I live (Northern California).not because of our skills as riders, but because of the way people drive automobiles nowadays.
Take the course! You won't regret it.
And congrats on the new ride. Keep the rubber side down!
Well as a rider of a Triumph Rockett 111 that has 2300cc of course you did the right thing yours is a moped compared to mine .Seriously just take your time and be careful and remember that is a bloody fast bike you have there.
Yea your doin the right thing, just becareful when you first start of. Give it a week and you'll be loving it. Have a biased opinion though i love bikes :)
take a refresher course with the bike safe course. it may lower your insurance too
600 is a good beginner bike, so if you have not riden in awile it will be great.but this bike has more power than anything you probably rode 12 years ago.just keep it in mind..
but is a great bike..fun
no. you should have bought a blue one
I agree with Timothy here. It's not the easiest bike to ride, but it's not the hardest either, and you already have it. So I would say the best thing to do now is to take a refresher course in how to ride, like the MSF class.
Follow these simple rules.
Safety: Ride solo, ride slow and careful for the next month, learn the brakes, learn to lean again in the turns. Don't down shift in the rain.
Wear a full face helmet, wear Kevlar gloves that are vented, wear a Vanson Leather perforated Jacket with Kevlar inserts, wear boots with good ankle support.
yes i had a cbr 600 fm it was great, but don`t get complacent or it will kill you. i would recommend a course with a bike school before riding too much. and remember you are invisible and all car drivers are lunatics.
I stopped riding when my daughter was born 21 years ago. In May this year I bought a xjr 1300 and am now going to trade that in for a Blackbird. Just go steady and at your own speed, bikes have changed so much over the years, as has the volume of other road traffic.Best of luck !!.
Sure, just dont try to impress anybody by pulling the front end up in the air. Just ride like you have some sense unlike some people. Ride On!!
take it to a track and razz the nuts off it you will remember then driving on the road will be much slower and easier. plus the power advances will be big as well
Just take your time; a 600 is in my opinion a good size for a learner. You can still take it slow, but not get left behind every place you go.
Then why now??
The bike will only be as fast as you want it to be. Just take it easy!
well, go on
Best advice i can give is go do a refresher course before you get on that bike so while you're getting the feel of biking back you can trash someone Else's and not loose your money have fun with your new toy
Hiya
You go for it !!! it was almost 19yrs I'd ridden a bike and I went stright back on a 1200 Truimph Daytona & ITS GREAT
John
Its all good. Just remember that it can get you into trouble real quick!
I know it sounds odd but a novice session at a track day or ride school would help you get an idea of where you limits are on the machine. Be excellent for confidence also!:)
have fun
stay safe
I started out on a sports 600, admittedly not 12 years after passing my test tho'!. The most important thing for you would be to treat it with respect, start slowly and carefully and let your confidence build up slowly. If you've not ridden at all in 12 years a day's tuition wouldn't do any harm, your guaranteed to feel 100% better afterwards. Good luck!..
bit late to be asking whn youve bought it lol.
cbr 600 nice bike, quick enough but shouldnt give you any nasty surprises.
just take it steady, and remember its your right hand that makes the bike fast or slow.
