Xjr 1300 or CBR 1100 XX ( Blackbird )?
Answers:
Yes, the fairing really does make a huge difference at high speeds. Why are you going for second best though? A Hayaybusa is way more comfortable at speed (it does kinda hurt the wrists around town though) and is way faster.
condition 1 bird is 5500 c2 5000 c3 4000 the fairing is supposed to be a big bonus but the brakes are linked and the older models had a flaw with the brake at high speeds the wind pushed the lever just enough to activate the brake light.
Blackbird . no question . a great bike with a good record , It will tourer all day and will eat up the corners with ease. Nice in Blue .pay around £3500 for a nice one .
Go with the bird, but i would rather spend on the Busa given the money.
'05 bird is around 6,500 for A1
'05 busa is around 6,500 for A1
'05 XJr is around 4,500 for A1
Hope this helps
I used to own a CBR1100XXY Blackbird and chopped it in for a CB1300F3. A blackbird is a quick way to lose your licence, you can't hit peak power below 70mph even in first gear and you REALLY will only try it in first, the once.
I needed a new visor when the front leapt up (momentary ham fistedness at 7000rpm in first) and the screen hit me in the face.
I was pulled at 110mph on the A64, when I pulled off the sliproad and goosed the throttle to enter the carriageway with an opening gap from the traffic approaching from behind. Thought I was doing about 75. Luckily the cop behind the lazer, under the bridge accepted my reasoning and only gave me a fixed penalty, after giving chase in an unmarked blue scooby doo impresser.
The blackbird is a bus in town and WILL hurt your wrists below 70mph.
Still, on a nice clear road, when that tacho hits 7000, somebody starts shovelling extra engines into the frame and the horizon suddenly appears to become awfully close, awfully quickly.
The CB1300 only needs 1st and top gears, so I can come home from the coast without changing gear more than a couple of times, but lacks the top end rush of the bird.
Still I think the CB1300 is more of a hoot to ride, the brakes are far better and the handling is remarkably similar.
The missus thinks the CB13 is comfier sat on the back too.
If you cruise down german autobahns at 160mph, several times a year, then the bird is for you.
If you want it mainly for sunny sunday afternoons with occasional trips into town, stick with the XJR.
If you want to join the (be afraid) highway warriors in dayglow leathers, buy a blade.
