p.s they look the same yet the cooper is more expensive then the mini one
Answers:
Here's the main differences of UK models (Mini Cooper first figures, One second)
Max. output/bhp/revs 115 bhp at 6000 rpm - 90 bhp at 5500 rpm
Max. torque/revs 150 Nm at 4500 rpm - 140 Nm at 3000 rpm
Acceleration 0-62 mph - Manual (secs) 9.1 s - 10.9 s
Insurance Group 8E - 5E
Price - Manual On The Road Price - £12,395.00 - On The Road Price - £10,995.00
The Cooper also has the following equipment as standard that the One doesn't:
Driver and front passenger footwell lights
Exhaust pipe finisher, chrome-plated
Exterior mirror caps in high-gloss black or white
Radiator grille bars and boot handle in chrome
Roof in contrast colour (black or white)
Sport suspension
Wheels: 7-Hole light alloy rims, 15 inch, 175/65 R15
maybe you should read up on it.. or maybe ask a dealer..
hav'nt a clue try BMW.com
Obviously the Cooper is the perfomance model and if you like performance, can afford the extra cost and the insurance, then go for it. The 'ONE' badging is the basic model and therefore bland to some people. But the BMW Mini is a great little car in all variations . but as you say, it's all about having the readies .. :-)
PS . if I was buying . I would go for the kudos of that COOPER badge!
mini cooper and mini one are the same thing..
Hi,
I've had a Cooper for a while now and I would suggest buying a Mini One that looks close to a Cooper as possible and then following this piece of advice. The only difference beyond trim levels such as wheels, body kit etc between the One anc the Cooper is the engine and they are basically exactly the same. Here comes the Science - the engine differences are between the management system (the computer brain bit) and the exhaust (though the exhaust is only a minor part, helps give a fruitier sound and a little better response when you accelerate). You can now buy a gadget called a 'Bluefin' from www.mybluefin.co.uk for about £300 which plugs in under the dash and will re-programme the engine management system to the Cooper settings so hey preston your MINI One starts acting like a Cooper. The best thing is that you can do this back and forward without BMW detecting so your warranty and the TLC servicing package are unaffected.this is a cheap way to get yourself a Cooper for this price of a One - hope this helps!

The mini cooper has that little bit more bite than the mini one. As you say they look the same, its just under the bonnet they differ in performance. I myself have a mini one and its the best car I have ever had. I would have liked to have been able to afford the extra pulling power of a cooper but hey that's life. My mini (bought second hand may I add) came without the one badge on the rear. Many people have asked me if its a cooper because it came with many extras that make it look like a cooper. Whether you opt for a one or a cooper will come down to personal preference, and of course finance, but I would highly recommend the mini to you.
