Can anyone tell me what the Compulsory basic training test for motorcycles involves?

It's going to cost me 100 pounds to take the test and I can't afford to sit it twice.

Answers:
It involves four main things (if I remember correctly)

1) instruction on basic riding the bike

2) demonstrating that you can ride a bike off road (on a playground or car park, around a circuit of cones). You practice the basics of machine control, pulling away, changing gear, signalling, manoeuvring and stopping safely

3) instruction on basic road riding

4) demonstrating that you can ride on the road with suitable safety. (doing all the basic signalling/observation/bike control)

If you go to a good training centre, they should be able to talk to you about it all beforehand. So long as you listen to the instructors and take it sensibly, I doubt you'll fail.

Good luck and safe riding!
to show that you have basic control of the bike riding in and around cones.you know how to do an emergcey stop.and to do a u turn with putting your feet down and you understand road signs etc
in the morning you will be riding around a car park learning about how to stop safly and basic turning/manovers etc.. then you go out and drive around on real roads with an instrctor. if you can ride a cycle and have road sence you will be fine. most places come with a pass guarentee.. so if you dont pass frst time you can go back for free!

It gives you the basic experience you need in order to ride a bike on the road. It covers things such as;

Safety Clothing and Helmut
Bike Contols
Familiarisation with the bike and it's componenets
Clutch control
Gears
Brakes
Basic riding skills
Basic manouvers like figure eights
Road Positioning
Emergency Stops
Road ride to end with.

Good luck x
it is really easy .. they show you a few videos in which you have to point out potencial dangers. Then you ride around the car park for a couple of hours practising manouvers, starting and stoping and all that.then you go out on the road ,the instructor is on a microphone and you have an earpiece and he tells you where to go and what to do. I actually enjoyed it and the instructor was really nice .i dont know anybody who has failed.
learning to drive with your safety and other safety in mind.plus helping you to understand the machine and the laws of the road. or it should be?
practice your ultra slow speed control.
and precision stops (stop on the line) from traffic speed.
