First of all, you would have to taken a motorcycle class. Most of these ckasses offer 250cc bike which the learner can be aquiented with. As for apperel, I would recomend Dennis Kirk. They have a wed site http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/common/fro.

Good Luck
I bought all my gear from www.bikersuperstore.com and got a pair of boots, gloves and a helmet for just under £200. I`m sure they do security as well. Their shop is based in Scotland and they delivered to my door in Manchester. If you`re going for your direct access don`t buy your own bike just to learn on it, if you haven`t started yet you will have to pass the CBT then go on to the direct access,an approved learning centre will have half-decent machines. I tried www.bennetts.co.uk or try the motorcycle section of www.autotrader.co.uk where you can get a bike and a quote at the same time.
As a learner, you won't be able to ride anything bigger than a 125. I suggest a Honda CG125, it's basic but adequate and almost indestructible in normal use. You should be able to pick one up for about £500, and if you don't trash it you should be able to sell it on when you pass for the same as you paid for it - there is a lot of demand for basic, learner-legal streetbikes. As for online suppliers, try www.mandp.co.uk or www.busters-accessories.co.uk. Always remember you only get what you pay for.
The best bike to learn on is the one that you want to ride. They are all fast enough be it 600 or 1000cc. Advice is do not scrimp on safety equipment, especially head feet and hands, spend as much as you can afford. I was knocked off by a nice lady in a white van once and re-joined the rushhour traffic on A303 at fifty miles an hour using my head for a break. I had a bit of luck and good kit so only had an impact injury, colar bone, which cannot be avoided. Be as safe as you can, trust no other road user cause they,re all blind, crazy or just don't care. Speed is your advantage use it to get away from the danger not get into it.

There's loads of good suppliers in uk just ask other bikers in your area. I've spent a fortune on gear over the last ten years and loved biking. Good luck to you.
well it depends on how old you are and how big you are..if you're like 6 feet tall then you might want something like a suzuki savage 650 it's a one cylinder but it goes pretty good..or you might want a kawasaki vulcan 750.it's got a v-twin, shaft drive, and has plenty of power.
I highly recommend a Kawasaki Ninja 250. I'm not entirely sure which model it is over there, but I believe it's the ZZR250 in the UK. Great bike in fuel efficiency, handles like a true sport bike, not big enough motor to get you into any trouble but still plenty fast, looks great, and is cheap. I bought the US model as my first bike and I still have it.
Get a bike that you don't have to trade in in 6 months. If you get a 250cc bike you'll want to upgrade to a 600 soon. Go with 600cc now and you can ride it forever.

Suzuki sv650 (cheaper, but not as classy)
Ducati Monster 620 (Only $500 more than a Suzuki and way cooler)
Ducati Multistrada 620
Few bits of info that may help, www.busters-accessories.co.uk lots of good stuff, have bought stuff myself got good service, try to avoid using bennetts insurance had several problems myself, shop around the internet for a good deal. If you have never riden a bike before please dont buy the biggest and most powerful you can afford coz your probably kill yourself, start on what you are comfortable with and what you can handle, not what looks the coolest.
one with 2 wheels i guess
if ur jst doin ur cbt ull have to have a 125 or less, i had a honda cg125, got it cheap n it done the job. if u want something a bit newer i got a suzuki en125.its pretty much the same as the cg.bit btr lookin an has an electric strter which is a bonus compared to a dodgy kickstart. the en was the wifes bike n she could handle it pretty well n ur only lkn at 1800 brand new if ur happy enough to stick with a small bike. hope this helps and no matter hw cheap ur bike is spend loads on safety gear.ull prob regret spendin so much till the first time it saves u hehe carol nash is prob cheapest for insurance nt sure of thr number bt i got it on the net so nt hard to find
