Have you noticed?
Answers:
No, its so that if anyone overtakes them they are likely to be speeding and then they can nick you!
yes
Yes, I've noticed that, I always overtake them going up to about 72, and then when clear from them, foot goes down a bit more.
I wish my car would do 70.
I dont know where you have been driving but the police around here drive as if they dicks were on fire..maybe they are just checking you out if your as cute as your little cartoon icon..
Yeah i have noticed. the little cheekys. cos then every other paranoid moron on the road goes the same slow speed, infuriating me and im sure many other drivers alike.
Be careful, when you overtake them, they watch you. They might follow you and when they see you are speeding, you're nailed.
And they don't nail you when you are speeding only 2mph over the limit, but when you're speeding 10mph over the limit.
ye
they view wats goin on around the place
Paranoid?
Its so they can see how many people are dumb enough to go slower than them /lol
No, I have never noticed this.
Personally, I like to drive very.. very.. slowly on the motorway, so as to enjoy every minute of it. It is what Motoring is really all about. So any police car going at almost 70mph would pass me so quickly that they would not even be able to see me, and would certainly not notice my lack of seat belt, or the fact that I was swigging gin while chatting to my lover on my mobile phone.
I have also noticed that when they do under 70, there is a line of cars behind. I just overtake them at 75 - i'm overtaking
Most car speedometers OVER-read at 70, so the police vehicle is probably doing a true 60-65.
However, don't depend on this unless you have checked your speedo! You can do this with a GPS system, on level ground. (it has to be level to be totally accurate)
I have checked a nummber of vehicles at various speeds, and found a substantial proportion UNDER read at lower speeds, and OVER read at higher speeds. Autocar magazine used to publish speedo accuracy in their road tests, but they no longer do this. I remember a French car ( I think it was a Simca) which read 100mph at a true 83mph!
The legal standard for speedos is plus or minus 10% AT 30 MPH, but that is no guarantee that you could not be prosecuted for doing 33mph in a 30 limit.
you need to be more careful of the vans parked on bridges clocking your speed and passing it on to the patrol cars!
This is probably because the police have a duty to set an example to other motorists and can only speed if they are on there way to an emergency or in pursuit of another vehicle , also not many people know this , but if you see a copper breaking the law ( any law ) you should report it to their superior at your soonest convenience , so if a copper was speeding down the motorway , without flashing lights , everybody should report it to their local police station , giving the reg no and car id if you can get it , along with times and dates and the offence will be investigated . The police know this , and also know that with the ridiculous state of the speeding cameras nobody is gonna let them off if they speed are we ?
yes do 100 it will be ok
I was told by a police person, that you are allowed 10% then an extra 3mph on top of that, reasons for this something to do with calibrations between different cars.
I got done once for been one mile over the above rule!
what are you doing 80 mph on a motorway for anyway the limit is 70 mph you are just asking for trouble
