Why is the British practical driving test so stupid?
Answers:
Hi.maybe you are trying too hard to pass & getting nervous.Goodluck on your next test drum it into your head ya going to pass
7 times? Hmmm.are you sure it's the test that's stupid?
Well, I haven't sat it seven times, that's for sure
Why is it stupid? Seven times not passed? Hmmmmmmm.
not an Anti-Brit answer, but..HELLO? I can't imagine the test because I can't imagine any worse drivers than the Massachussetts drivers OR Asian drivers.
Pedestrian when in London.
It is only stupid to those that do not understand it. The car is a very dangerous tool and to use it without understanding how or why leads to all those accidents we see or hear about. For the time it would tale to learn how to drive safley and understand the laws and rules of the road could in fact save the life of the driver or others who use the road.
I think you just need to relax when you take your test. if that does not work, give up driving!
I took my test twenty years ago, I passed first time after no lessons. I don't know how easy it is now. Good luck!
Because a paper test has but all to do with driving!
Once was enough for me! Didn't strike me as being stupid. Stupidly easy maybe. Improvements; to make driving school tuition mandatory with a minimum number of hours on road - say 25 hours, also have compulsory resits every 3 years, and raise age limit to 20.
i love Cindy L's answer. yes Massachusetts drivers are the absolute worst in the world. The best driving challenge should be to drive the Mass turnpike surrounded by Massholes, and if you can make it 5 miles without getting killed by one of them . TADA, you pass .
To say that the test is stupid is, well, stupid. As others have said the car can be a dangerous thing in the wrong hands. My girlfriend took 5 before passing and made some stupid errors on most of them, but at least she knew it was her mistake, not the test. All I can say is keep at it and perhaps lose some the attitude. There is a chance that you are just really shite at driving and should forever be made to use PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
If you try again though good luck, and let me know when and where you are so I can stay indoors!!
Once was enough for me.
It's not stupid at all - in fact probably too easy judging by some of the complete numpties on the road. Are you paying an instructor for lessons? After 7 attempts they should have sorted you failure points out, or do you just go to pieces on test day? If you are not paying for lessons - get some, the instructor knows exactly what the examiner wants to see.
The UK system is okay but could be better: compulsory motorway training, tougher theory test (current one is pathetic), restricted engine size/power for new drivers like they do for motorbikes, compulsory attendance at a presentation on the effects of drink driving, speeding etc. and regular perception/reaction test for older folk.
