Is it legal or not to ride a motorcycle to an MOT without any tax?

Answers:
it is legal as long as you have booked an MOT

tricky because you can't pay the tax without the MOT certificate, so.

I know that you are allowed to drive a vehicle to the MOT test if the MOT isn't done, but you're still obliged to make sure the vehicle is safe on the road.

But I doubt that it is legal to drive a vehicle without tax having been paid in any circumstances, unless there is a specific let-out for this particular one. DVLA should be able to tell you over the phone (you don't need to tell them who you are).

Was the bike on a SORN before, which would be a valid reason for the tax having expired? That might be helpful.

I've done the expired-MOT thing but I've never done the expired-tax thing as far as I can remember. I live in a city so no tax disk means they shoot you on sight - IF you park. Otherwise they don't notice. Not that I'm suggesting..
As long as you can prove that is where you are really going.
I think i'ts OK but if stopped you may have to prove you have booked into the garage.
No! You have to have tax or a SORN!!
I'd expect that it's acutally illegal however I don't fully know.

An MOT is to check the bikes 'health' and to make sure it's fit for riding and has nothing to do with Road Tax.

Nice question.

:-)
But obviously you need an MOT certficate to get tax.

It is, without doubt, legal to ride an un-taxed motorbike to an MOT station. If you get pulled then you may have to prove thats where you're going.

The bike must be insured though, you don't need tax/MOT for that.
if u can prove it
If your bike has run out of tax & you have not subbmitted a SORN (statutary off road notice) you will get a fine of £80 automaticaly.
If you are caught riding the bike on the road without tax its a fine, If you have filled in a SORN its a fine.
It is quite legal to ride or drive a motor vehicle to a testing station without road tax so long as you are booked into the testing station and you're insurance will cover you for the risk.
book the bike in for test giving your registration number to the test centre, you are then ok provided your insured to ride to the test centre and home again.
if it fails you can take it to be repaired but make sure your booked in.
yes you can as long you can prove you have an mot booked at the place that you are taking it you must be insured though
It's legal as long as it is to or from a pre-booked MoT
Its illegal to take any vehicle on the road without tax, for any reason whatever. Sorry.
It is legal to ride a motorcycle to an MOT if you have booked an mot inspection with the testing station. But you must have insurance that covers you to ride that motorcycle and a licence with the relevant categories
Providing you make an appointment with the MOT station beforehand - Yes.
You can ride to a garage for a PRE BOOKED mot but you must have insurance.
Hiya
No its not illegal to ride a motorcycle to an MOT as long as its insured & you pre book the MOT or you could check out online at DVLC.co.uk
Hope this helps
