Will getting the ecu re-mapped on my 2002 115 bhp 1.8 tdci ford focus damage the car in any way?

ive been a mechanic for 6 years and have found that certarn chips do make cars play up not damage them. ive seen this twice but they where both with the plug and play types if you get a pro fitted internal one you wont have and problems cost ya bout £250 though
The ecu is factory set to not exceed factory limits, when you re-map an ecu with the intention of increasing bhp. Obviously you are increasing the engines ability to perform at the cost of engine life and it's surrounding moving parts. Your engine will run faster, therefore hotter and consume more fuel. For many this is a very small price to pay for bhp.

as log as you dont go to stupid power an you keep it maintained you should be ok
i think it depends on where you go to get it done some garages or companies are really expensive
unless your car has a high perfofmance, sport or allready tunned engine it will not damage the engine if it gets chipped. they leave the factory running well under there limitations.bluefin do a chip that can be turned on and off by remote control( no need to inform insurance company) and can be turned off when getting serviced so it isnt reset
bluefin's ok for 10% more bhp.But you SHOULD tell your insurance company!it would be hard work for them to see if it has been chipped but if they did,and you hadnt told them,you would be uninsured.
