Why does the petrol pump add on a penny in the time it takes you to get to the kiosk?
The pump says 320.00.
You walk away and it says £20.00
you get to the kiosk and it is £20.01.
Why??

I'm guessing you are a guy? if you are it totally explains it -- you did what guy's always do - you dribbled when you shook..LoL
Real advise would be to squeeze the trigger gently for the last few pennies, then look at amount as you put trigger back not when you take nozzle out. If you look when removing the nozzle, make sure you dont have any fingers near the trigger!

You know, I'm sure that has happened to me, and I don't know why either. is it their profit margin ;-)
It sounds like that your decimal point is rounding up to the nearest whole number.
ie 20.079 rounded up equals 20.01
It's for going to the toilet with. It's called spending a penny.
they are rigged to gain the extra income. don't pay the penny tell them to stuff it.
i used to work in a petrol station and it would always be couple of pence over to what the customer says has gone in

its a scam. if you think of how many people go to the forecoart and each one adds a penny..it must add up to a few hundred by the end of the week.
I think the pumps should have the option to put in £5,£10,£15,£20 etc.. so it will put in the exact amount in by pressing a button. so it will only feed say £5 worth of fuel.

some petrol stations have a penny pot so that you can just pay with that, it happens so often!!
you have to contribute to it sometimes though else it just aint fairx
