Does anybody know of a paint that is suitable for use on a crash helmet that does not affect its integrity.?
Answers:
Fingerpaint
Its not recommended!
Instead, at the back of motorbike magazines there are companies that can put your design on a helmet, it's much safer!
Its only cellulose paint and polycarbonate lids that dont mix. Acrylic paint is fine on most grp or carbon kevlar . Remember to add some clear to protect it too.
Any of the PPG paints with a clear coat. They are all called Base coat/Clear coat.
don't do it, replace your helmet or get a pro job. Who knows what solvents might be in any paint.
No paint job is safe on any helmet. You see it is not just the outer shell that's the problem, it's the polystyrene foam shock absorber inner that can be damaged by the solvent fumes. Even removing the lining does not guarantee that you don't damage the lid taking it out or refitting it, then what about the straps? You cannot remove those because they are riveted in.
Best to buy a helmet with a paint job as standard.
fibre glass helmets to my knowledge are the only ones that can be painted with out any side effects
I wouldn't bother
GO TO YOUR LOCAL BODYSHOP SUPPLY STORE BE SURE TO ASK THEM FOR THE KEVLAR STEALH HELMET PAINT.HE'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU FROM THERE.
