Your pet hate?

Mine is motorbikes (but not all.just the selfish pricks!). They think they can jump the queue; appear behind u like rockets.you get ready to overtake..and they steal your thunder!(lol) .headlights on full beam; cut corners when they're appraoching you; the speed. Most are safe riders..but unfortunatly some are just pain dangerous!

Answers:
Loud Pipes Violate Rights

Think about it and if you need to ask why, you'll never understand.

There is NO proof that loud pipes save lives.

Why should I be forced to listen to the hobby of another?

Bikers claim to be real Americans, if so respect the rights of others and respect the laws of the land.

The bikers wanna make noise, go to a field meet or track.

Motorcycle Fatalities Increasing: Read the October 2001full report "Fatal Single Vehicle Motorcycle Crashes" (DOT HS 809 360) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); a study recently conducted on motorcycle accidents and safety

Here's a summary of NHTSA DOT HS 809 360:

Single vehicle motorcycle crashes account for about 45 percent of all motorcyclist fatalities. More than 38,000 motorcyclists have died in single vehicle motorcycle crashes between 1975 and 1999. The report claims to provide data for insight into possible causes for these fatalities. According to the report, from 1990 through 1999, there were a total of 11,038 fatal single vehicle motorcycle crashes. During that same time period, there were an estimated 294,000 non-fatal single vehicle motorcycle crashes. Of these, an estimated 39,000 involved property damage only and 255,000 involved injuries. Motorcyclist fatalities in single vehicle motorcycle crashes decreased each year from 1990 to 1996, reaching a historic low of 937 in 1996 and again in 1997. In 1998, the fatalities increased to 1,042 (11.2 percent increase); in 1998 and in 1999 they increased to 1,140 (9.4 percent). The overall increase in motorcyclist fatalities from 1997 to 1999 was 203 (21.7 percent).

Report Conclusions: Findings from the FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) data illustrate possible reasons for motorcyclist fatalities in single vehicle motorcycle crashes:

* Helmet use among fatally injured motorcyclists below 50 percent
* More motorcyclist fatalities are occurring on rural roads
* High blood alcohol levels are a major problem among motorcycle operators
* Half of the fatalities are related to negotiating a curve prior to the crash
* Over 80 percent of the fatalities occur off roadway
* Undivided roadways account for a majority of the fatalities
* Almost two thirds of the fatalities were associated with speeding as an operator contributing factor in the crash
* Almost 60 percent of motorcyclist fatalities occur at night
* Collision with a fixed object is a significant factor in over half of the fatalities
* Braking and steering maneuvers possibly contribute for almost 25 percent of the fatalities
* More riders age 40 and over are getting killed
* Almost one third of the fatally injured operators did not have a proper license

1998 Motorcycle Facts:

* 2,284 motorcyclists died and approximately 49,000 were injured in highway crashes in the United States.
* Per mile traveled in 1998, a motorcyclist is approximately 16 times more likely to die in a crash than an automobile occupant. And 3x (times) as likely to be injured.
* Head injury is a leading cause of death in motorcycle crashes.
* In 1998, 46% of fatally injured motorcycle drivers were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
* NHTSA estimates that motorcycle helmets reduce the likelihood of a fatality by 29% in a crash.
* In 1998, 41% of all motorcycle drivers involved in fatal crashes were speeding.
* Nearly one out of five motorcycle drivers (18%) involved in fatal crashes in 1998 was operating with an invalid license at the time of the collision.
* Motorcycle drivers involved in fatal crashes in 1998 had higher intoxication rates than any other type of motor vehicle driver at 31%.
* In 1998, 500 motorcyclists lives were saved due to helmet usage; 307 could have been saved.

Selfish people that get me out of bed at 6.20am!!
Arrogant people tend to wind me up
Suck a dick.
My pet hate is:
When you go through a corridor, and its reasonably narrow. There is a person in front of you who you have to go behind and you follow them as they go forward. You can't go aroudn them coz it's too crowded. If you follow them you would get out of the corridor. But what i really hate is when you are the person behind the person.. and they STOP. they jsut STOp. you can't mve around them and its just SO frustrating. You look ahead and there is no one in front of them, but they STOP.. I HATE THAT!
I love motorcycles - it is a sickness.

Maybe they just scare you - too bad.
Old biddies who drive really slow (e.g 30mph on a 60mph road!!) Why do they only come out at 5pm when I want to just get home!!
bikes have the headlights on because most car drivers have their shania twain cds on and do not see bikes.
best way to deal with bikes is to know that if they choose they can blow you away and be over the horizon before you hit top gear. dont compete with them. yeah a lot of them are bloody nuts and a good percentage of them will end up wrapped around a lamppost. dont add to their statistics through driving like an idiot yourself.

anyway, my pet hate is these little gimps in thier corsas with their shite music, that and every other car being an suv in cities, yet when you get out into the countryside you hardly see any.
Bad manners
People who use TXTSPK when they could use proper English.

I don't object to those who have trouble with their spelling, but I do object to "cud any1 tell me y da wds r dun like this?"

Cud - the stuff cows regurgitate and chew again?
Dun - a dark brown colour used to described cows!

When you are posing a question on these pages, you have 160 characters to pose your question and then 1000 to explain the question. USE THEM!

TXTSPK is alright - on SMS messages on your telephone but please! Not here!
rude people, people who don't say hello, or thank you.really grinds my gears!
I know what you mean about motorbikes. What about the idiots that ride around in shorts and t-shirts! They complain that drivers don't see them, so they know the dangers. Then they wear shorts and t-shirts!! How are they going to protect you if you have an accident?? I know that leathers won't save your life if you have an accident, but there would be a lot less blood!

Cyclists annoy me just as much. They seem to think that traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and other road signs don't apply to them for some reason. And I hate it when they ride on the pavement too. And I hate it when at traffic lights, they cut right to the front and then slow everyone down. I appreciate that it's better for the environment but does that mean they have to be so arrogant??

God, I've enraged myself!! Need to get a calming brew!
Pet hate? I think that would be for me, people that 'hate pets' (or who dont like or mistreat animals)
dog poo on the streets.
its disgusting
it smells awful
it gets on your shoes and therefore in your house
you spend ages getting it off

why cant dog owners clear up after there mischievious mutts. it would be so much easier than me cleaning it off my shoes
Mine is boy racers who tailgate me, just because they want to overtake. I'm going at that speed because I have a child on board, you morons! And by the way, your cars look really naff with those spoilers! And while I'm on it, how about saying thank you or waving when I let you out at junctions or give way on a narrow road? Wouldn't kill you, would it? Phew, that's off me chest. Right, anyone for a race?
When you're walking by shops and a group of people just stop in the middle of the pavement and hold a conversation. I hate the 'walking in the road' business just to get by them.
surely the same could be said for car drivers. Many bike accidents are caused by wreckless driving of cars.
"I love motorcycles - it is a sickness." I agree
people that expect me to tolerate them, when they are intolerant of anyone else.
Shedding would be #1. After that, having to clean out the litter box. Other than that, I love my pets!
foreign vehicles which have not had the plastic cover put over the headlights so that they still dazzle.
