Why can't Vigin Trains stop their vehicles smelling of sewerage?

Answers:
Because Bombardier and Alsthom (who built the Voyager and Pendolino respectivly) placed the toilet tank vent too near to the Air Conditioning intake. The Airconditioning and toilet would have to be fully replumbed at the cost of £1000s per coach

As for the huge toilets - they are required under the Disablility Access laws which specify the size and position of each and every fixture.
coz they`re shite?x
Do they have bathrooms on their trains? maybe they have a poor septic system on their trains.
Erm, I dont know what your experiences are but I use the virgin service regularly, from birmingham to carlisle, and I quite enjoy using these trains, ive never noticed a sewarage smell, maybe you just had a train where the toilet wouldnt flush?
It has something to do with the way pipes where put in, apparently to correct it, it will cost millions.
Its not only virgin, most trains seem to smell of sewage.
and also the new trains with the huge electronically opening doors do just allow the various unpleasant smells to circulate round a bit more. Bring back the tiny cupboard toilets I say! At least if you fell off the toilet because the train had jolted, you didnt fall with the fear that the door would automatically open and all and sundry would see you with your knickers round your ankles.
It is the air conditioning, But if they turn off the air con they stink of piss, cant win.
It is a known problem and Virgin are working on it at the moment!
Trains now have to store the sewerage on board, and get pumped out at the major stations at the end of their jurney, rather than how they used to be that when you flushed the loo, it went straight onto the line. This was not nice for the folk who have to make repairs to the line, and I think that there are now environmental laws which the train companies have to abide by. So bear with the train companies, as it will improve.
