im in the exsact same possion,im 16 and i want a motorbike.i have been told that he would have to have a 125cc first and then once he is confident he can get a more powerful bike
I would buy him aprillia right now.He isn`t child
get him the 125 now. he is plenty old enuff.
buy the one he wants
I'm 17 and I just got my motorcycle license in a matter of a week. No experience and I still learned quickly. I am currently looking for a bike myself. Here's a few good beginner bikes:
Kawasaki Ninja 250
Honda Rebel
Kawasaki Eliminator
If you decide to let him ride a motorcycle, be sure he takes the MSF course.
At the moment I have a honda x8r moped and im 17. I am sick of it because it is too slow so my advice is since he is not far from 17 he should get a proper 125 and learn to drive a real bike!!
Help him find a job to pay all or part of the bike of his choice - most people respect posessions that are earned rather than given - they tend to be looked after better and speaking from experience ridden more sensibly as awareness of the intrinsic value of a thing increases its personal worth - zen guff aside - your gonna do for your boy what yer gonna do so----
suggest wait untill 17 - more power - yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha - IT IS worth it
Endeavor as much as possible to ensure responsible riding and best affordable kit with a new proper fitting helmet ,
learning the dynamics of manual gear bike an advantage early
take care all
youre son cant legally ride a 125 untill he's 17,as for the problem using gears he,s probably better off on a scooter'he will learn how to ride the bike and safely control it when he does his cbt which he must do before riding on the roads.
to be honest wait until he's 17 then let him get a proper geared 125, treat him to a good riding course. That way he will learn all the basics of bike handling, gears and maintenance before he gets on the road. Make sure the course includes the CBT as he will not be able to ride on the road without it.
I learned this way and that days training saved my life more than once. I now teach others to ride.
A geared 125 will be lots safer that a ped because it can keep up with traffic even on a duel carriageway and he will then be able to progress up the cc levels pretty seamlessly.
