Why is it the richest car manufacturer in the world (toyota) brings out such souless, bland and ordinary cars?

You just answer your question! That is why Topyota is the leader it thinks in all kind of people and problems. They make very cheap and economic cars and very expensive ones too. Also they have car for middle economic classes. That is why Toyota is Toyota and Ford is going down, and Ford is been help in USA by the gov.

Ermmm surely you're looking at this from the wrong point of view - copnsider this. How much does it cost to develop a wild, wacky and weird car? How many do you subsequently sell? You'll never go wrong in car making stressing reliability over style - that's important to far far more people.. many Toyotas (particularly the trucks) are, literally, bomb proof and that sort of reliability sells. Mind you I wouldn't say no to an MR2 Roadster..

Ok so they arent boy racers,so they dont get nicked,but after 120,000mls they are still going strong.Ever seen one broken down on the road.Boring no way you are out of touch.
Its cuz instead of spending money stying the car they spend it on the engine. and thats why people buy them they have good engines which makes them reliable
