Why red for stop and green for go.?
Answers:
I think it's to do with the almost universal symbol of red for danger, but I do agree it's silly, especially with there being so many red/green colourblind people out there. Yeah, you can tell the bottom light is lit up and therefore the light's red, but it doesn't pop out at all and would be easy to miss for me (I'm red/green colourblind)
Because red is a nice color and it's fun to look at.
WHAT ??????????.
no they are not going to change it
how can you only change traffic signals for half the population. Seems like it could cause more accidents.
red sign of danger..blood colour..green.colour of greeneries.peace.safe
I think that would be confusing, if green were for stop and and red was for go, people associate colors for reasons, as in green would be for go, because people have been associating that color for a long time with the word go as well as for the color red, people see the color red on stop signs, etc. To change what everyone has known since it started would confuse a lot of people. My opinion would be that the lights need to stay as they are, there is enough confusion out in the world as it is, let's not add to it.
The color doesnt matter. The people habit has red to stop and green to go. Why change?
red is more of a harsh color. plus society has trained us that red is like . bad or something, ie the devil wears red. things like that.
green is a more soft color. therefore more suitable for a smooth ride rather than a quick stop
plus its more about the order than the color. stop is on top and go is on bottom
I thought that rule was for practicing European driving??
The red has always meant danger, if you saw red blood it meant something bad, hence the danger. So to get you to stop it shows that it is dangerous to continue.
Red = Danger = Oncoming traffic from another direction.
Amber = Beware + Stop = Traffic lights about to change.
Green = Safe = You can go, No oncoming traffic from another direction.
So this is really a dig against the Irish? If the odd only would change the evens would ram into the odds stopped at a green light.
Green is the color of money, after which we GO GO GO!!
CUZ ITS BEST DA WAY
Red is a bright colour and attracts attention while green is generally considered to be a colour that makes you feel relaxed. Imagine the trees to be red: who would like to go out in the woods for a walk? Good question by the way.
Green=Go G=G
Red=Stop R=just before S ;-D
Why the colors are used:
Red is the color of blood. It acts as a warning of danger to the body.
Green is nature. It is in our nature to go and be in motion.
If this is changed there will be mass confusion and more traffic accidents that would've been prevented because people are creatures of habit.
Because black is too hard to see at night and white is too hard to see in the day time.
But first they are gradually changing over to driving on the right.
I think it started with red as stop because red means "Caution" or "Warning." All warning labels on bottles are red. Signs that say "Danger" are red, also.
I think it would be dangerous to change to the colors around at this point.
