Stopped for a Dark Tinted Visor?

Anyone been stopped by the police for riding with a dark tinted visor? Would I get away with it as long as I was carrying a clear one too?

Answers:
Legal limit is it must let 80% of light through, which is a very light tint.

Nearly all iridium visors are below the legal limit. £60 and 3 penalty points if stopped.

Basically if the visor is dark enough for the police ot notice the tint you're liable to get a ticket and points and get the rest of your bike inspected at the roadside.

Bizzarely you can wear sunglasses that only let 20% light through legally, so work that one out.
Dude they're illegal, If your in an accident whether it's your fault or not, your insurance will be invalid ..ie You'll be totally up the duff!
In England, tinted visors are now illegal. Even though they're probably safer than wearing shades under your lid.
They should be out catching proper ciminals.
Jeez ShagaDelic ..Chill.

Dwayne not sure about the visor thing. I think the fact that it was tinted and you were driving with it means you wont get away with it. They may think that you were trying to conceal your identity.
I take it you mean at night. If that is the case, there is a maximum amount of tint that is allowed, for a good reason. You have to be able to see in the dark.

It is unlikely that an ordinary bobby would know the legislation with regard this offence, but traffic police will, so it depends who stops you.
What do you want one of those naff things for anyway?
the traffic vermin now have a device to test the amount of tint, or how little light can get through the visor\car sunstrip.

Now, although certain visors are illegal the twist is this: every traffic vermin is a wannabe highway patrol man and as such sports a pair of rayban aviators. if stopped and he attempts to use his new money spinning device, get him to test it on his own shades. they will fail. at which point the legal arguement in a court of law is obvious. just hope he doesnt find the solenoid you use to hide your rear number plate..
It may depend on where you are. I'm in Wisconsin. My husband was stopped once for wearing dark glasses. No ticket, just a warning.
I have never been stopped but that is because I change the shield if I am going to be riding when it is dark. I occassionally will ride with it at dusk, but I don't care for it anyway.
they use them on TV so it must be okay.
Nope. Must have clear visor..in PA anyway. You can wear approved sunglasses, but visor must be clear and in the down position during riding. Just wear open face helmet and approved glasses and you won't have this problem.
Where I live dark tinted visors are not a problem unless you're wearing it after sundown. In this case, you're visibility is reduced due to the tint, and the police will definitely have something to say about it.
