Do you get an instant ban if caught driving over 100 mph in the UK? I've been told that no longer applies.

No, only if the judge really doesn't like you. Mostly you get a fine or a couple of days ban. My boyfriends mate is a cop (and an idiot) and was caught doing 128 and only got a fine.
(They didn't know he was a cop, otherwise he would have probably lost his job and been banned)
You will be summonsed to appear in court where the most likely outcome is a ban.
If you get a good lawyer and can come up with some good excuses you may be let off the bam - but don't bank on it.

'if' you were ever tempted to do 100mph and were unlucky enough to get caught by a copper you could pretend that you were a famous celebrity on there way to a charity event and if you lost your license you would disappoint all those lovely poor orphans as you could no longer help them out ..
