At today's gas prices that seems exactly right. Where I live it is currently $3.42 a gallon for regular. Five bucks would get you a little under a gallon and a half. You are probably getting gas for less but still it will be no more than 2 gallons anywhere in the US. You are getting somewhere between 14 and 18 MPG. Just about in the ballpark for that vehicle and stop and go driving. All you can do is drive slower and nurse it as far as you can.
