What is the meaning when you car shows a message check the engine soon?

Answers:
bring it to a repair center.
take it to a repair shop and have them do a diagnostic.i think either jiffy lube or aamco does a free diagnostic
Time to bring it in for a check up.
It means that you should get the engine checked soon.
it could mean a lot of things. you should bring it to either a dealer or an oil change place, and have them run a diagnostic on it-- that will tell you why the light went on, what is wrong, and what needs to be fixed.
means you should check the engine soon
check engine soon
um.. heres your sign. LOL
it's giving you a warning that there is something wrong and you should have it looked at
means you are due for a service.. check on the oil..
pull out your owners manual and read what is says about when the check engine light comes on.. it varies a little bit with each car. once you have read that you will have a better idea about what to do.
It may not mean anything. Some are programmed to come on every several thousand miles so you will take it to the dealer and spend some money. If nothing is seriously wrong with my car when it comes on, I ignore it, and it goes back off in a few days. But if you're in doubt, auto parts stores sometimes have the equipment to check the computer for a code that will tell them what is wrong.
Uh . it means just what it says: get the engine checked. :)
let me see. "what does it mean when it says "check engine soon"" duh .just guessin' but i'd bet it means "CHECK ENGINE SOON! also means you might be a walkin' if'n you don't CHECK THE ENGINE
Hi that can be from a small engine problem to a big one at the garage or dealer they can hook it up on the computer and tell you exactly what is wrong and how much it will cost
It means that a sensor has set a fault code in the vehicle computer. If could be something very minor, or it could be more serious. Have the codes scanned, either at a mechanical shop or a place like Auto Zone. They can also clear the codes, which will turn off the light.

On the newer cars the sensors are so sensitive that they will set a code for a minor thing, and clearing the codes (depending on what the code is) may just solve all the problems.

It could be something as simple as having started the car with the fuel tank cap off.
it can mean any number of things.your catalytic converter might be bad, your engine may be starving for air,you could be running low on oil or your oil filter is completely stopped up.these are but a few of the things that might be wrong.take it to auto zone and they will put it on their computer and tell you whats wrong.the computer is portable and for most cars plugs in under the dashboard.this will give you peace of mind and it might be something you can replace yourself.
It means a sensor in the engine detects a problem/trouble that needs to be notice ASAP.It can be anything,on a count of engineers these days went sensor crazy.but it could be the smallest thing that causes a check engine light, like not turning the gas cap on tight.but if it's something more complicated, than take to advance auto parts,or pep boys.
either you need an oil change or transmission is going it could be numerous things
ITS A COMPUTER GENERATED LIGHT ITS SO YOU GO TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHANGE THE OIL REST THE LIGHT AND CHARGE U 150.00 DOLLAR IN THE MANUAL IT WILL SHOW U HOW TO RESET THAT LIGHT MOST GM YOU TURN THE KEY ON DO NOT START IT,THEN DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR THREE TIMES THE TURN KEY OFF THEN START THE CAR AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OFF
It means "check-the-engine------SOON"
It means that you need to take your car & have it scanned to see what type of code it has set in it.
