Who agrees with me that dvla should make drivers resit their tests every ten years?
Answers:
Definitely. I'm 27 and been driving for 10 years now. Think you're right and I would benefit from a refresher course and new test. Everyone thinks they're a great driver, but I see so many idiots on the road every day to know that aint so!!
I'm with you there!! I hate it when people just sit in the middle lane on the motorway NOT OVER TAKING ANTHING!!!
I think it's more a case of making the driving test harder in the first place and weed out the people who shouldn't really be behind the wheel of a car. Some people don't even know their left from their right - is that safe??
I think every 10 years isn't frequent enough! If people always had a test coming up (say once every 2 or 3 years) they would drive properly all the time and we'd all be happier.
Have you any idea how much it costs - and how inconvenient it is - to sit a test? It costs £45 on weekdays, £55 on the (occasional) Saturday. It can take months on a waiting list. Some exams are just pure bad luck, when some moron interferes with your manouever, or just incredibly bad traffic.
I agree that there are some shocking drivers around. However, the tests would change little. People drive in bad ways because they choose to - because they only care for themselves. After a test they would revert back to type. So the test would achieve very little, apart from making the DVLA more cash.
people should be assessed at least every 5 years and compulsory eye tests every two years
Hell no, I indicate and check my mirrors etc. Please, don't make us pay out even more than we do when it comes to driving! (road tax has just gone up you know, come on, give us a break!)
only if the person shows sign's of dangerous driving repeatedly while police are following them and this should show that this person has no consideration for other road users. what about the people who do drive properly and may have taken a big effort through nerves on the day of the test and passed and has been driving fine since that day, why should they be made to go through re-siting a test. stricter laws are needed but this is not the answer.
Yes that works in theory but they'll charge a bomb! It's just another way of getting money. Plus they'll fine you for forgetting and it'll be so annoying! However, when you reach 70 years old in some parts of the country they'll want you to retake your test every couple of years (can't remember if it's 2 years or 3)
no they already make enough money out of us easy target drivers in the uk through tax, insurance, speed cameras and parking fines!its like riding a bike once you can drive you dont just forget!its like saying a docter should have to go back to uni every ten years!maybe they should make drivers resit at 65 or if they have more than two accidents in a year!not everyone is a bad driver so why should we all suffer!
if u could drive, u wouldnt think that way! pass your test and then tell me if u want to do it again in 10 years time. i think not!
yes i think that should be manditory because your vison changes over time and may need glasses to drive safely
