You need to apply for a licence with category A provisional entitlement, when you've got that before you go on the road you may have to take the theory test then undertake a C.B.T. (Compulsory Basic Training) course. On completion u should be able to ride a motorcycle on the road with L plates, (the rules have changed a lot since I took my test so you'll have to check up on this next bit), you'll be restricted to the size of motorcycle you can ride whilst on L plates I think it can be a 125cc or a bigger capacity bike no more than 33bhp. After the C.B.T. you have a limited time in which to gain your full motorcycle licence, it used to be 2 years, after which the provisional motorcycle entitlement is withdrawn meaning you can't ride anything bigger than a moped for about year.
you need to get your provisional drivers licence, then go for a CBT, thats the test where you can drive a moped. once you've passed this you can drive a motor bike that goes up to 30 miles an hour. you could also take a motor bike test. you dont need a car licence to take a bike test. also, if you have a full motor bike licence, you can drive a 3 wheeled car without taking a full car test.
take a cbt for £90 and youcan ride upto a 125cc for 2 years without taking a test.

or pass your test I did a 5 day course £499 and can ride anything but you have to be over 21 under 21 can ride up to 33bhp which can be any bike as long as you restrict it. I have a 400cc that is 54bhp restrickted to 33bhp and you cant tell the difference. You can do it with nay 600cc, 750cc even bigger.
Get a license
buy a helmet
book up at a CBT centre and ask them about insurance
take the lessons
take your CBT
if you pass get a bike; you can ride up to 125cc with L plates for up to 2 years, and must take your test within 2 years
Get a license
Do your CBT
Once this is done you can ride upto 125 cc without the need for supervision
Alternatively professional training
Then ride as safe as you can and try hard to keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down at all times
Safe riding
