Driving In Mainland UK?
Answers:
No speed limit restrictions - you are however advised to display a Green L or P plate. But they tend to make people try and over take you!
new drivers in the UK don't have any special speed restrictions. they are subject to the exact same speed limits as any other driver on the road.
there is also no requirement to display any badge as a new driver, although some people voluntarily display a green 'L' badge to inform people that they have only recently passed.
ditto
above
not restricted to speed but display a plate with a green (P) or (L) volountary
Not speed limits unless they've changed the rules v. recently. You have to have an L plate for 1 year when you get your UK license but you can drive like a loon for 1 year on any foreign license (amazingly).
The L plate is only required while you are a learner driver.
No! just go with the flow. as a new driver you should be taking it slow anyway. I am from the UK but live in Tenerife and the drivers over here are crazy.wish I was back home!! Good luck, But please watch out for speed camera's and radar guns I don't miss them xx
No they are not.
You have passed your test, you should be competent.
Many new drivers are nervous at being able to drive without someone beside them, others still want the protection that 'L' plates give them - so many display the Green 'L' plate which tells other drivers that, although qualified, this is still someone 'learning'.
**It's a good idea,
No, drivers arent restricted to any certain speeds other than the national speed limits currently in place that all drivers have to adhere to whether they are newly qualified or not, they dont have to display a green or g plate but some do to try and stop other road users from the taking the mik and give them some space while they get used to driving on their own
just follow a young woman driver You will be driving at 15 mph in city centres, 30 mph on dual carriageways and 40 mph on motorways ( in the middle lane) ALL THE TRUCKERS WILL LOVE YOU AND GIVE YOU THE TWO UP SIGN. by the way i used to have a sign on the front and back of my car it said "POLICE"
No you can drive up to the legal limit 70mph.However some people display a Green L plate but this is voluntary
