What would be the best 250cc Motorcycle to buy?

I want to buy a 250cc motorcycle that I can run off a CBT licence. It must be a motorcycle as I think that scooters are generally ugly. Has anyone any ideas what I should buy?

Answers:
Should state your in Britain? or somewhere that has CBT so americans wont assume they are the only people who waste time on computers.
I moved from Britain about 8 yrs ago so cant help. I thought there was a 40hp limit, or is that after test? I dont think the law was repealed for sidecars? I fitted one to an FZR600 a couple of years ago
try a Honda Rebel CMX 250. or a Suzuki GN250 both have the chopper look. If you want sporty try a Suzuki RGVR250.

Good luck searching for the right bike!
If you haven't got a full licence, you can't ride anything bigger than a 125cc legally. If you like sportsbikes the Honda CBR125R might be to your liking, or the plain but reliable Honda CG125 is always a good choice. Get your licence, then ride what you want - it's more fun than you can imagine on a big bike!
If you go to one of the training schools, they often have motorbikes you can use there. It might be a better way to start riding, you would be able to try some out while you learn.

Good luck.
suzuki drz 200.it is a dual sport or on/off road bike
dont no
My best advice to ya would be to take the Motorcycle Safety Course.I think they're offered in all of the continental US but they teach you everything and at the end, they test you for your class M license. I'm doing it now actually.and everything is geared toward the person who's never sat on a motorcycle or dirtbike. But anyway, I would suggest that, because they help out a lot. Check with your local driver's licensing center for more info..they should have it
you cant ride an RGV250 unless you get it restricted which is poinless as its gutless to start with. Something like a gn250 is great also look at cbr250, inline four, 16 valve twin cam that revs to 18500rpm! sounds like an F1 engine! or just buy a bigger bike and get a restriction kit fitted.
aprilia 125 full power 30bhp 100 mph or a honda cb250 cheap well made and about the best of the breed.you could ride a bigger bike with a 33bhp ristricted kit like a kawaski er5 or a cb500 honda suzuki gs500 or a sv650 after the 2years of riding it then you could get the ristricter removed and ride the full power bike.most bikes that size with 33 bhp is quicker then most of the 250s plus you would have more street cred good hunting
