Would having an expired tax disc or mot certificate make car insurance invalid?

Answers:
You can still be insured on this car provided it is not on the road . if it is being used you are breaking the law anyway and your insurance would most definate be void , However you can still have the insurance on if it is parked in your garage or driveway. ( You are then still covered for fire & theft of the car from your drive / garage ) But in the case of the latter i would still inform the insurance company to let them know there is no m.o.t / tax But you would still like cover whilst it is parked on your property . Any pay out would be minimal as it woul be concidered as scrap value only .
There is a lot of people on yahoo answers should really Not answer question`s they simply know nothing about !
You havn`t` made the assumption that you are driving it on any roads , so why are people assuming you are ?
People should READ THE QUESTION Before answering It ..
yes
tax disc no but inorder to have insurance the car has to be road worthy ie mot 'ed
I'm pretty sure if your car isn't MOT'd it invalidates your insurance. not sure about the tax tho.
yes, its considered unroadworthy
No, you can insure your car and keep it off road with no MOT and TAX.
If the car is stolen or burnt then you can claim, a friend of mine did.
MOT will because it could be classed a Road Unworthy.. Im not sure about tax
you can't have insurance without tax so simply the answer is yes tax is the one that invalidates insurance, you only state s.w.o.r.n if you are keeping your car of road if you do this and drive it then u will go to court. The law is an *** its not mot but tax (that's in response to every1 that has said its mot)sorry to every1but for some strange reason its not the mot but the tax. oh you solicitor Muppet if you were any good then you would know it is the tax not mot, you can drive around with tax but no mot.report me.!!yes your insurance will still be valid as long as you tell your insurance company it is being kept off road. you wont be breaking the law by not telling your insurance company about the tax or mot just simply say it's being kept off road and you want to amend the insurance for this reason.
no mot yes
Yes, as it should not be on the road. You would be covered for fire & theft if the car was at your address though.
If you have no MOT then your car isnt roadworthy, if you have no tax disc then your car should have a SORN notice applied. Your insurance therefore wont cover you as your driving a car which legally shouldnt be on the public road.
I know that not having an mot makes the insurance invalid. As the insurance is given on the fact the car has been tested road worthy. Not sure about the road tax though. But it wouldn't suprise me if it was a yes for that as well, any thing so the insurance company can get out of paying.
Both will void insurance, my mate paid £8,000 for her new car and insured straight away but decided to tax the following day, it got nicked that night and she could not claim as it was invalid!
are you some kind of muppet or wot,its people like you that make our insurance high,by driving round in an illegal car,get the tax disc pronto,so as too make out lives easier!!
sure does
oh yes they will do anything get out of paying out
Car would need an MOT. But if your like the 2 million other people who drive around illegal, then its really up to u?? It was on the Tonight show about uninsured drivers, they can can take the car off u and crush it!!
Tax disc no
MOT yes
each state is different,so call your dmv and your ins agent.they will tell you the good news or bad
Unless you've declared yor car as off the road (ie SORN), you need MOT and Tax disk for your insurance to be valid.
Yep!
Yes, most certainly.
You can keep your car off road, with no tax or MOT but to have to declare it SORN with the DVLA, you can keep it insured while off the road. So no it doesn't invalidate the insurance. However, if you were driving without tax or MOT then that would be a different matter. You do not need to show an insurance certificate to get an MOT either, but you do to get a tax disc, you do not need to have an MOT or tax disc to insure a car.
Yes failer to have them makes the insurance void
absolutely definately, unless youve informed your insurance company
