My ducati 748 has poor headlights, both shine on "sides" and "dip" but only one shines on "highbeam" is this ok

is it supposed to be like this, or is there a fault,is it possible to get duel highbeam ? maybe by purchasing some sort of converter?

Answers:
That's how they are made, you could easily mod it to have both on together. I'm a Ducati lover too, but like all love affairs there are good points and bad. Ducati headlamps aren't good. extra powerfull bulbs don't help much either.
You'll just want to check the bulbs possibly the wiring and reposition them
no,your lights are okay, in fact, it was designed that way. Trust the crazy italians to do something the japs wont do. sort of like a kind of style anyway. if you look inside the lamp, you can see the lenses are different on both sides as well.
check you highbeem fuses if one has blown it gets half power from the other
possibly due to one side having a single filiment bulb i.e dipped beam, and the other having both dipped and high filiment bulb most double headlighted bikes only have high beam on one side.
I would take you catty into a repair shop; this is not normal and you may have a wiring failure.l Your lights are a huge safety factor, so do it quick!!
