Is it cheaper to buy a car in Europe and ship/drive it back to Britain, than it is to get one here?

Answers:
It can be, it depends on the car or country. If you pick a country with high sales tax like Denmark or Ireland then the manufacturers price before tax is lower so the on the road prices are even throughout Europe. If you are exporting you don't pay that though, just vat at 17.5% when your import it. Look on the net for brokers as the paperwork can be difficult.
not sure anymore, since prices here are dropping!! i used to work on the boats and 4 years ago people were still going over to buy a car..don't forget to pay for plate changes!!!
