trying to trace my old car, sentimental value, would like to restore it if of road.

No offence mate, and I bid you good luck as a restorer myself, but I would imagine a Mk 1 Astra would be a complete bucket-case by now; if a boy-racer hasn't got hold of it then it might be well and truly rotted away to scrap.

But I wish you all the best and hope you find your old car, I know the value of these things as I have just found my old Rover SD1 after eight years of looking!
