I want to buy a porsche, but am not bothered about the engine. Just love the shape Any ideas if this is poss?

It depends on what you're willing to spend as to what I would reccommend. If you are looking for new, or nearly new, the Boxter does have a great look. You could settle for one of the early ones with the 2.7L engine to start. If Boxster is too rich for the blood (I don't know enough to say it is or not) get a 944 or 968 cabriolet. These were the predecessors to the Boxster, and are very fun to drive. Lastly, the 911 is just like a simple black dress on a beautiful woman: Timeless and sexy. Any year will do. I'm sure there are plenty of car buying sites on the web for the UK.
Find an old 912 - a 60's 4-cylinder model that's been well kept. It's crude by modern stds, but you'll love it.
If you don't care about the engine and just like looking at the shape, why not just buy a poster. Lots cheaper and it doesn't drip oil in your garage.
Just look at auto ads and find a porsche with a blown engine for cheap and put in any engine you want, myself I think there kind of pretentious looking , id rather have a buggatta.
get one with a fast engine or you'll regret your decision later
my friend bought a porsche cos he liked it. THe boxter model it was but due to the fact the biggest thing hed been in before that was a Kia, Eight hours after driving out the dealers it was upside down on its roll bars doing a pirouette! To have a 3.6 litre engine and not being able to handle it is dangerous to you and other people. Either buy a matchbox model or as one chap on here remarked buy a poster. if the poster tears, you wont need to remortgage the house to replace it
You can't go wrong with an early boxster. Their fairly cheap to run, very fun to drive, good trunk space, decent fuel cost and looks great. Prices continue to fall as well. That's my advice anyway. Go after a 2000 or later if possible. They have the same interior as the 911.

If your going for all out style and don't care about the price, I would say the new Cayman S is the way to go. They are probably the newest, most styled Porsche's around. If you want a more classic look which is always cool.but a bit more expensive, get a Carrera. the Cayman S is in the high 50's-low 60's and the Carrera ranges from about 73-87. If you can't spend that much, go for the Boxter, and if you don't have enough for that, go for an old 928, those are classics and very cool.

Get yourself an used boxter. They are cheap and very good on reiablity and gas. Good luck.
get a moby dick or a 911 turbo 2005 or a carrera.
get an early car.post 69 has the long wheel base.the 1969 911t also retains the dual triple throat webber carbs..2.0 flat six,and the car is about 2100 lbs.loads of fun i bought one.
