2003 Model Yamaha FZ6 (naked) or Honda CB600 Hornet?
Answers:
Honda, wont rust and fall apart like the yam! Seriously though both are great bikes and huge fun but if it was my money then Honda would take the cash. Better build quality and that user friendliness that only Honda seem to manage, go a mile on one and you'll feel right at home.
The Honda also has more mid range and a very well proven engine (cbr600 lump) that will not go wrong. The Yamaha in comparison is built way down to a budget and the finish really suffers especially if used all year round, the paint on the engine cases peel off and all the alloy parts fur up literally overnight.
Take the Honda, tour ,commute, thrash and just like a faithful Labrador it will come back for more wagging its tail.
Dont know which one of those is more fun but I've had a few yamahas and they are crap, so many problems, the honda should give you far less hassle.
Personally the FZ6, had dealings with the 'Fazer' series over the last couple of years and been really impressed, very cheap to run (for me the insurance was only £128 fully comp) quick and easy to service, comfortable and great on fuel economy.
Bit biased really but may be of some help.
honda
the fz6 as hondas suck. wouldn't have one given. bit of modifying you can have an engine with the same performance as the r6
Performance-wise, the Honda might just have the edge. Either will be more than enough for you, 0-60 times in the mid 4 second range and speeds of up to 130mph. The FZ6 has the better tank range, the Hornet 600 was known for its small fuel tank. The Hornet will probably be the more forgiving bike, as the FZ6 is quite peaky - needs to be revved hard to get much out of it. From the sound of it you're not that experienced, so I'd go for the Hornet to be honest.
I just got a Yamaha FZ6 black/black, its the best, forget the Honda.
