Can someone tell me what the tyre pressures are for a 1999 Yamaha R1?
Answers:
Check the manual and the swingarm sticker.usually set at 42psi rear and 36psi front.
Nobody had answered your question so far, so after some digging.
normaly says on the swingarm near the rear sprocket. any tyre place will happily tell you it will be about 36-8psi front and 42-6 rear depending if you take a pillion or not. Look at the make and use the manufacturers website, they tell you reccomended fitments and pressures
The tire should have the maximum air rating and load rating on it's sidewall. Take these numbers, figure or weigh what your load will be and put the same proportion of air in the tire as related to maximum pressure as the weight is to the maximum load rating for the tire. This applies to any tire on any vehicle.
42psi rear and 36psi front. is right
All previous answers correct. PSI 36 & 42 F & R. I own a bike tyre depot and this the optimum pressures recommended by all tyre manufacturers to give best performance and wear.
Should be 32psi in the front and 42psi in the rear, dont forget check when the they are cold.
Track days drop the front to 30 and the back to 38.
Lower pressures will heat the tire faster, if you are going to take it to a track day, ask the tire sellers where to put the pressures. It should be around 32 for performance, but the tire will wear faster, much faster if you are really pushing it arouind the corners.
