Why do we have to pay for zone 1 and 2 on the underground while crossing to other zones without coming out?

Usually,I had seen people complaining about travelling from zone 3 to zone 3 on the other side but that they will have to pay for both zone 1 & 2 which is not necessary if they are not coming out from the station on either zone 1 and 2.

Answers:
buy a travelcard for any zone but zone 1 and use the bus into zone1 or get an oyster card!
It's about the length of the journey not the just the zone
Use the bus, then you wont. Public transport is too expensive, next time dont vote for Ken
Because you're still travelling *through* Zones 1 and 2. Just because you don't get out in them doesn't mean it costs any less to run the train!
