What would happen if i was goin 100 mph in my car and i put the car in reverse??????.
Answers:
we did this to a nova going around 40mph and after the car made a couple of fast seizing jerking motions the transmission was destroyed and we rolled to a stop. i imagine at 100mph it would be pretty much the same thing.
destroy the transmission
give yourself whiplash
cause a strange wreck
regret it
try it, now, but don't hurt anyone, just yourself.
At 40 mph I can understand it makes noise but at 100mph it will happen but smoothly. You may not come to know!
BALD in a SECOND!
just depends when i was 5 i got pissed at grandma cause she didnt stop at the ice cream place so i slammed the tranny in reverse on the free-way doing 55. she quickly put it in neutral and pulled over, after beating craap outta me, tested it in drive and in reverse. it still worked, had the car for 15 more years with the same tranny with no problems. that was a 77' dodge diplomat. then when i was in high school, i accidently put my dodge conversion van in reverse trying to show off to some freinds. was only going 30 and it twisted the guts out of it, as soon as i did it.
i think i know the reason. ita kind of like, when u try to grab a spoke in a wheel with your hands. when its spinning slow its pretty easy to catch the spoke, but when you spin it real fast, what happens? your hand bounces off.
if you shifted it back out of reverse before the gears had a chance to fall together you might be alright, with just wearing down the top of the gears. but if you didnt and the tires locked up, then ya might have exploded a gear or broke a ban in tranny(if automatic) does it still operate? yhen u might be ok.
