How do I change the side lights on my 2002 v w Passat?

Answers:
There are two set of lights on the side of a Passat. If you mean the sidemarkers (located on the sides on the front bumper), then you push in on the side of the housing facing the rear, once this is depressed, slide it toward the rear of the car. It should then come out with the attached wiring. Replacement is the reverse. If you're talking about the turn signals on the side, built into the fender, then you would wrap a small flathead screwdriver in electrical tape and carefully pry it behind either side of the housing to release the spring clip behind it. Be careful while doing this because you could scratch the paint or break the clip. To replace, just pop it back in.
You should probably check the owners manual or a shop, but if it's like my car, 98 lumina, then just remove the two screws then the lens, replace the bulb then put it back together again.
what i would do is go to my local dealers usually they love to help out and give advice etc
put a small screwdriver behing the lamp at the end nearest the car door and they pop out easily. when out twist the bulb holder 1/4 turn to release it.
EASY. open the bonnet and you will see the fitting for the light inside. there is a clip holding the covers shut. pull open the clip and pull out the globes in their sockets. then just change them. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE GLOBE ON THE GLASS. good luck
