When you say cloned I think of the classic example:
Guy buys a 67 mustang fastback.
Guy spends some money and makes the mustang look like a 67 Shelby GT500.
Guys sells car either as a "clone" or to an unsuspecting purchaser as an original.
The mustang in this case was originally nothing more than a 67 fastback, a cool car all on its own. Then is converted and work done to look like a more rare breed of the 67 mustang. Though it is true among collectors this car would be valued less than an actual original 67 Shelby GT500, however this car is more valuable than some plain-jane stock looking 67, because the value in it is that the car looks like a cool car, but is still very street-able because it isn't so rare of a car that you would feel bad driving it. There is nothing wrong with selling this cloned car, so long as you let the purchaser know it is a clone, and that you value it as such in the pricing. What kind of car is it, what was it cloned to look like, how much did you spend on it, can you get what you paid for it back if you sell it as a clone? I would do some research if I were you. If the car is a really good clone of a car that is highly sought after, you could make some money even selling it as a clone.
As for the seller of the car, I think the possibility of a law suit could be in order here(if the seller knew of the car's condition) he sold you a fraudulant make and model, have the authorities investigate the guy and your car, if he is found guilty criminally it would be very easy to catch him in civil court too.
