i had the same problem as a young male but after many hours searching the web for the best insurance deal i was led to confused.com which unexpectedly produced offers a couple of hundred pounds lower then the competition.

No don't go to Tesco's! They nearly screwed up my claim when my car was written off in an accident (I was hit from behind so I was not liable).
Go on to Confused.com and do a search on there.

there are a number of places that specialise insuranec for young drivers with NCD. Do a search on the internet, or buy the autotrader and you will find a large advert section in the back offering low insurance for young drivers.
You can also try the www.autotrader.co.uk site but I am not sure if they advertise on the site.
try www.ecarinsurance.co.uk, just knocked off 600.00 a year & i get a years no claims after 8 months
Try moneymarket.com saved a friend £500.
