Why will my motorbike not idle?
Answers:
My best guess is that the jetting is messed up. The thing about older Yamahas is that the stock jetting sucked. It wasn't until about 1990 that Yamaha took a hint and redesigned the carb. So, with that said, the jetting is probably just off. If the throttle valve is even 2 degrees off, it can screw the whole thing up. Check that first. If that's not the case (which is unlikely), check the spark plugs (they may be too loose or are worn.). If that's not it either, check the piston. If it looks bad, then your bike has been pinging, and you will need to replace the piston. That last one is very unlikely, but hey, it could happen. If the problem still persists, load it up and take it to the mechanic.
Broke
Clogged jets in carb, and/or bad/stale gas.
cverhaul the carbs, adjust the valve lash, and the sell it to me cheap cuz that was one of the sweetest bikes i ever owned.
