sorry kids it was NOT HENRY FORD , he perfected the moving assembly line , in the U.S.A. it was Ransom Eli Oldsmobile with the curved dash runabout , it had a single cylinder and tiller steering (no steering wheel ) the company commissioned the song " in my merry Oldsmobile" i think the year was 1901 or 1903.
Henry Ford
FORD MOTOR CO, Where NOT the first company to mass produce cars. They were the first company to standardise the mass production LINE. Various steam vehicles, back to horse draw carriages where considered as mass produced as parts where made 'en mass' away from the main assembly area then brought to a central area where the same product would be assembled.
Its hard to assign which company was first as its a judgement call as to when 'mass' can be used to describe production. If they built 2, 20 or 200 identical models where do you draw the boundaries although it is critical that they are assembling identical 'units' (engines, chassis etc. not colour).
