Help Jaguar V8 owners?
Answers:
Jaguar had well-known problems with the V8 engines until the beginning of 2001. The main problem was with the blocks becoming porous. Jaguar were quite generous in sorting out cars which had a full dealer service history, and you will often see V8s advertised as having a new engine paid for by Jaguar.
The main symptom of this is lumpy running.
I am not aware of any particular problems with the injectors, but your local friendly Jag dealer may have some information.
You do not say where you are, but, depending on the age of your car it may be better to consult a specialist, rather than an official dealer.
The Saturday edition of the Daily Telegraph carries a motoring page which contains the 'Honest John' column. Honest John publishes a book every few years which details known faults and problems with specific vehicles, and it also has details of recommended specialists.
I think the book is out of print at the moment - a new edition is long overdue - but you can check it out at www.honestjohn.co.uk, or go to the Daily Telegraph website and get into it from there.
I drove a new XJR 4.2 at a recent Jaguar driving day, and it was an amazing car, although I think the 2.7D is a more sensible car for real-world motoring!
I hope this helps.
Oh, you have my jaguar ready for me? Take it to my Florida mansion and just have my butler park it in the garage.
My boyf brother has the same problem with his jag. His revs are all over the place and boy does it guzzle!
i wish!
the thing about the XJR is that the compressors should be maintained properly because once it starts with problems they will never end
