Hi, Can a audi pro please tell me what this part is please ?
Does anybody know what this part is, I have an audi a3 and had to get a new gearbox over the weekend because the mechanic told me that this part (PIC IN THE URL) was broke..
The image is on the 2nd row with an orange background I think it's a flywheel.
I paid £675.00 to get it sorted as the mechanic told me I needed a new gearbox would this be correct.

It sounds about right. You can tell if you got a new one by getting under your car and having a look. Grease and dirt accumulate pretty quick on a car chassis. The new gearbox would be attatched to your motor and should look clean and new compared to everything around it. If you find the gearbox covered with exactly the same dirt and grease as everything else under there, then it's safe to assume that it wasn't changed.
That is the gearbox mainshaft, and yes, you would have needed a new gearbox. How the hell did you destroy the mainshaft? No oil in the gearbox?

Freddy boy, don't be fooled by the look on the cleaned shined metal. do you know that i can clean your car parts and make them look as good as new and you won't even notice it at all, most car parts rustles they look dirt because of dust sticking to oils and greases. if a new part has been fitted on your car, you can fill the difference when you sit and start rollin' on your wheel man.
