I want to be able to ride a 997cc motorbike when i'm older but my parents say no, how can i persuade them?

Ok, I'm guessing you're probably 16 if you're old enough to have a bike? So just wait until you're 18. Oh, they may put the "if you're living under my roof" argument to you, but if they do, just move out. Or buy it secretly and keep it somewhere else.
By acting responsibly up until you can actually afford it. Perhaps they'll feel better about you with the bike then.
take a motercycle class
hello, i believe you could tell your parents that even if its dangerous to ride any kind of motercycles you are much carefull when your older.
Are you kidding me, That bike is WAY TOO FAST for an Newbe rider. Dont kill yourself and start with smaller bikes, cruisers are really fun. Take a CC Rider class that teaches you road safty and how to handle an accident saftly (cause everyone goes down at somepoint) there's no such thing as a long time rider whose never been down or doesnt know someone who has.
Start with a much smaller bike and take a MSF riding course. Prove that you are responsible and skilled enough to handle a larger bike. Also I agree with Kevin about the crashing part. My grandfather once told me when I started riding 24 years ago, that there are 2 kinds of bikers, those that have crashed and those that have yet to.
Turn 18 then you won't have to worry about what they say. Otherwise, if this is your first bike, pick something smaller and take a MSF rider safety course. Your parents may approve if you pick a bike you could actually handle and show them that you are willing to learn to ride responsibly.
Probably never but how long are they going to make your decisions for you? If it's going to cause problems at home leave it until you've left home then it's entirely your decision.
Get training it's a way of learning by others mistakes, don't ever think you have nothing more to learn about riding: complacency on a motorbike = death.
I was 25 yrs old before I ate my first lobster. A 997cc bike is likely a Ducati or Honda Fireblade and if your parents say NO then you have no business looking at these bikes as your first. Enjoy an ablebodied life and work your way up to beasts of this size.
Move out.
