How many lessons did it take you to pass driving test?

It took me 15 lessons and cost me £300 plus the test fees. I basically found the instructor, told him I wanted 15 lessons over the course of the following week (as I had already booked my test) and that I wanted to pass. This worked for me as I passed first time. If you don't set objectives this way then they just fleece you by telling you that you need more and more lessons. Tell them instead you want x number of lessons and put the onus on them to make sure they use that time wisely.

Each state has minim requirements of classes and on road driving experience. Check with your DMV. Drive safe.
you got to remember that i took my test back in'80 and at that time things were cheaper. 1 was 18 and passed it the first time. its mostly common sense, but to be on the safe side, study the book also. most people do pass the first time.
