Well, the company is by definition Japanese but with globalisation it is now international. Many cars are made in America for their market to overcome the import quota problems, they have a factory in Derby, one in northern France and so on. Toyota includes the up market cars Lexus as well. So the answer isn't simple at all! It is like Nissans come from Sunderland and Hondas from Swindon. Oh, and did you know that right hand drive Mercedes and BMW's are made in South Africa (where there is also a big Toyota factory at Port Elizabeth). Mercedes 4X4's are made in the USA even in right hand drive for us here.
In other words, while the company is "Japanese" ir is really a global entity. Sorry to confuse you!
