Has anyone test driven a Toyota Prius?

Any comments and observations will be appreciated - petrolheads need not apply

Answers:
I work on them. You'll be very surprised by the acceleration, they're quite quick away from a standing start. Don't believe the government official MPG figure though (69mpg), Toyota are legally obliged to quote that. Realistically they do 47-50mpg with city driving, so they're not too bad. They come well spec'd with integrated bluetooth and an ipod port. Some of the top spec ones can even park themselves! (feels weird, but it works).
I own a Prius, had it for just over a year.getting approx 50 mpg. haven't been on long journey but it goes happily at 70mph and if you are keeping the speed steady it used no petrol.
i had one problem where the battery that starts the car and locks the door failed and was replaced free., even thou it was out of guarantee. no problem since.
they were recalled about a steering column problem but that was delt with and a bottle of champagne given for the trouble.
road tax £30 and no congestion charge in London.
happy to answer any more questions on it
I had a spin in one purely out of curiosity, and i must say comeing from a man who loves fast and powerfull cars, that i really enjoyed it. When you get into the car you feel like your a captain of some strange ship. you power up and the display starts giving you information about everything. very exciting. The whole drive is nothing more then a normal toyota, nothing great but your not driving it for speed or luxury. your driving it for the gadgets and the fun of knobs and buttong and gizmo's. least over to be green thats a lame excuse. I just wish the new civic was a hybrid.
wait a year until all the other hybrids come on the market and toyota prices will fall considerable. still a touch expensive.
Well, I have not but I hear it is a cool car. Won't mind trying it out.
Just remember that a Diesel car of similar size costs about one third less and does the same number of MPG and it doesn't pollute the environment due to its manufacturing and replacement of its Nickel based batteries.
But as has been said the Greenies luv 'em.
