You don't have to do any of that crap. You put it into 'go forward','go backward', or 'don't go' gears and then press the go pedal or the stop pedal. that's all.

Its easier but I think its good to be able to drive a manual in case your ever in a position where you have to. Manual driving is frustrating at first but becomes easy after only a little perserverance.
John C has the best answer for sure. I've had many cars over the years and the most enjoyable have been my Nissan and Vauxhall Automatic. Easy to drive? I should say

The automatic is the easy one. But people that Live in The country or rural areas should be familliar with a Manual you never know when you might be forced into a situation to drive one and it will no doubt be an emergency like the person that drives it normally is hurt and needs help.

Automatic is a lot easier, but you still need to learn how to drive and operate a standard transmission. Lets say just for laughter you get stranded but the car is still running, then you can still drive your self out of your spot to get help.
Yes driving an automatic is easier. But once your learn how to drive a manual, you won't forget. Just like learning to ride a bicycle.
