Phone the DVLA or go to there website www.vehicellicence.gov.uk
I think you will have to re register your car under the Spanish plates with them.
Given the cost of changing cars over to spanish plates from english, you may be better considering selling the car in Spain. This would not only encourage one more Brit who lives there to drive a legal car (!) but as prices of secondhand cars are high in Spain, you could do better than bothering to go through all the paperwork.
However, if you need to bring the car back to the UK because that is the best way to get you and yours with your goods and chattels there, you can find all the info on the site below: note that if it is over ten years old, you could have a problem! Beware of companies offering a full package system to do it for you - they are after the tax and insurance dodgers, and one of them charges £900 to do it, then £250 per year to maintain it, whatever that means! The fee for the DVLA is £38, and there should be no "maintaining" apart from paying your road fund licence...
if you contact the DVLA. you can get the details from any post office thay will give you all the right details and send you the relevent forms
